Barclays is one of the world’s most well-known banks, and graduate jobs with the banking giant are highly sought-after. However, thanks to the Barclays graduate scheme, there are ways for graduates to get their foot in the door at this global financial services provider. Read on to find out more.
Barclays: The Banking Firm
Founded in London over 300 years ago, Barclays is a multinational universal bank with its headquarters in London. It’s split into two separate divisions: Barclays UK and Barclays International. As of 2021, it employed a staggering 83,500 staff in 55 countries around the globe, 1,000 of which were new graduates and apprentices taken on through the Barclays graduate programme.
The Barclays Graduate Scheme
The Barclays graduate programme provides graduates with two immersive routes, where they can either develop specialist technical expertise for a particular role or gain experience through eight-month rotations in a specific business area.
Expert Programmes
The Expert Programmes allow graduates to develop specialist technical expertise through a targeted, fast-track programme over one to two years. You will work on live projects within the firm to help them build experience and gain valuable job-related skills. You’ll be involved in customised training from the get-go and will have access to support at all times.
The different options available through the Expert Programmes include:
Aspiring Developer
This programme will teach you how to code and develop applications for Barclays customers. You must have a degree in any subject that does not have coding as an outcome, and have strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Data & Analytics
You’ll be taught how to use data sciences to drive growth within the firm and develop a solid technical foundation. This programme covers two roles:
- Barclays Payments Data Scientists
- Barclays UK Advanced Analytics
Investment Banking
