A school in South Manchester are wanting to appoint a Graduate Teaching Assistant to begin work after October half term 2022. The role will run for the full academic year. This is an outstanding opportunity to work with secondary school children across the age groups, whilst also gaining an insight into the ways in which children retain information. This will be particularly important when working with children with set SEN/SEMH requirements. There will also be the chance to work with students with EAL needs (speakers of other languages)

As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will be responsible for:

  • Enforcing all school policies effectively, including those related to behaviour.
  • Creating relevant educational material for students to engage with, working in collaboration with teaching staff.
  • Providing support within a pastoral capacity, listening to any student problems should they arise.
  • Managing workloads, ensuring students remained focused within the classroom
  • Developing strong working relationships with staff ands students, inspiring learners to offer their best at all times.
  • Developing action plans for students based on individual needs, ensuring that these are realistic and achievable in both the short and long term.
  • The applicant will also gain the chance to cover lessons, regularly communicating with senior staff and parents when necessary. It is expected that the required individual will also be able to work across a multitude of subjects, providing small group interventions when necessary.

    The applicant is expected to be able to display confidence and resilience when often having to deal with potentially difficult scenarios. As the school is in a highly diverse area, being able to offer clear communication with children is imperative.
