Developing a Student’s opportunities board has been filling up with jobs and placements over the last couple of weeks. We are pleased to be able to share over thirty student and graduate opportunities with our users.

Our Opportunities

We understand how hard finding a job can be for recent graduates, particularly during a global pandemic. The rise in unemployment means that early careers vacancies have more competition than ever. Meaning many graduates are facing swathes of rejection.

Developing a Student’s opportunities board is proud to showcase employers who want to help young people through this difficult time. They all value the skills, education and ability of students and recent graduates and want to support early careers progression.

While it may feel like the odds are against you, there are many employers out there who understand the value you can bring to their organisation, and are currently searching for candidates just like you. We are pleased to introduce two of those employers here: PwC and Dstl

PwC (PricewaterhouseCoopers) is one of the ‘big four’, the four largest accounting and professional services networks in the world. They solve important business and finance problems that enable UK businesses to thrive.

Right now, they are searching for interns for their Summer 2021 Legal programme, graduates to join one of their Audit or Tax Graduate Schemes, and for students to sign up to their Accounting Flying Start Degree Programme. They have opportunities all over the UK.

The Dstl (Defence Science and Technology Laboratory) use innovative science and technology to support the defence and security of the UK. They are committing to harnessing the talent of young people to support the Ministry of Defence.

On our opportunities board, you can find their summer placements in Counter-terrorism and Cyber & Information, university-industry placements, and graduate programmes across a variety of subjects such as Military Platform Technologies, Mathematical Modeller, Defence Security and Analysis.

Diversity and Inclusion Across Our Opportunities Board

Here at Developing a Student, we are committed to supporting young people whatever their background, and whatever career path they feel is right for them. Diversity and inclusion are at the heart of what we do and we understand that the opportunities we showcase to our users must reflect that. We firmly believe that everybody deserves the opportunity to fulfil their potential through education and employment. Which is why we champion those opportunities which directly attract marginalised groups who face barriers to employment.

If you are an employer who wants to spread their message of diversity, or you have an inclusive and supportive opportunity available, please get in touch.

Here are some of the ways our opportunities board is supporting diversity and inclusion:

Black Talent in Business Programme

We are excited to be able to share this three-day virtual programme for BAME students. You will get the opportunity to meet employees, hear about their diversity and inclusion commitments, develop the skills and confidence needed to bring your whole self to work, while also getting an insight into the world of PwC.

Degree Apprenticeships

We understand that for many young people going to university does not feel a viable option. The financial burden can be overwhelming. However, we believe that financial background should not deter any young person from accessing education.

Which is why we are pleased to showcase the Flying Start Technology Degree Apprenticeship run by PwC. Degree Apprenticeships enable students to attend university without paying fees, and earn a wage while they do so. We hope that programmes like this encourage more people into higher education who previously might not have felt able.
