The above appointment/s is to commence as soon as possible for a fixed term period initially up to January 2022 but potentially extendable. MBBS or equivalent is essential. This post does not award a National Training Number, as it is not recognised as a ‘training post’. Full registration with the GMC with a licence to practise is required.

If the appointee does not hold right of residence in the UK, sponsorship will be required and supported. The duties of the post are equivalent to FY2/ST1/ST2 grade dependant on experience. Life support certificate i.e., ALS/ACLS/ILS or equivalent is essential.

Main duties of the job

The main duties of this post are those required to provide high quality safe inpatient care for patients admitted with COVID-19 infection and related complications. The post holder will be expected to engage with twice daily board rounds, conduct ward rounds and adhoc patient assessments, initiate appropriate investigations and treatments and plan and facilitate safe patient discharge and follow up.

The post holder will work alongside other junior doctors and under the supervision of infectious diseases registrars and consultants. The post holder will work as part of a wider multidisciplinary team including ward nurses, pharmacists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, dieticians, speech and language therapists and administration and clerical staff.

    Qualifications

    Essential criteria

  • Be eligible for full registration with/and hold a current license to practice from, the GMC at intended start date
  • Advanced Life Support Certificate from Resuscitation Council UK or equivalent by intended start date.
  • MBBS / MBChB or Equivalent
  • Desirable criteria

  • Full registration with the GMC
  • MRCP Part 1 or equivalent
  • B.Sc. Degree or equivalent
  • Further Training

    Essential criteria

  • Successful completion of pre-registration posts and achievement of Foundation competencies for working at FY2 / ST1 level
  • Clinical Experience

    Essential criteria

  • 12 months Clinical experience post qualification and evidence of achievements of foundation competences from a UKFPO affiliated foundation programme or equivalent, in line with GMC Standards / Good Medical Practice
  • Experience in a UK clinical setting
  • Desirable criteria

  • Interest in General Medicine
  • Experience of General Medicine at FY1 or above level in the UK for minimum period required for GMC Registration
