Exciting opportunities are available for people looking for a career in education or in a fresh challenge in an inspiring learning environment at Springwell Learning Community, where we provide children and young people with ‘second chance’ learning. It couldn’t be a more exciting time to join the Barnsley and Kirklees Special Provision Partnership. We’re a new, bold partnership, formed through the collaboration of Springwell Learning Community, Greenacre School and Joseph Norton Academy. Through our collaboration we are able to provide unique opportunities for our children, our staff and the communities we serve.
The posts will suit candidates who have the commitment, passion and resilience to make a difference to pupils who have a range of social, emotional, mental health and special educational needs.
These positions may suit those wishing to develop a career within the Special Education Sector. College/University graduates are welcome to apply, as full training will be offered to candidates wishing to develop a career in this setting. The positions may be of particular interest to applicants who have a passion in supporting the emotional and mental health needs of young people. We are a national training school (Barnsley Positive Regard Teaching School) and therefore able to support a career path for aspiring teachers through a rigorous development programme.
Successful candidates will be responsible for:
● Working with the classroom teacher closely to ensure outstanding progress in learning
● Support and leading nurture, interventions and some group learning in maths, English, P.S.H.E and other subjects
● Overseeing practical, kinaesthetic, sport, physical/outdoor activities where required
● Supporting the development of resilience, self-esteem, social skills and strategies for regulation Post holders require:
● At least level 2 qualifications in English and Maths
● Experience of working in an educational setting
● The ability to build positive relationships and have unconditional positive regard for children and young people
● Understanding and experience of strategies to support children and young people with SEMH and SEND desirable
● Ability to personalise learning
● Driving licence desirable for possible traveling between sites.
