About the role.

Our Student Support workers provide support to our learners and our prison support staff. They are responsible for a learner’s induction into the education provision and the promotion of courses to potential learners across the prison establishment. Our Student Support workers also get involved with the recruitment of learners for courses, maintaining accurate records of achievement linked to initial assessment, close liaison with partner organisations such as St Giles Trust, National Careers Service (NCS) and the prison allocation and activity team. They provide ongoing advice and guidance about the courses we offer. 

Have you got what it takes?

You should have a passion for what you do along with relevant and recent experience. Ideally you will need to hold an appropriate Information and Guidance qualification or be willing to work towards one with the full support of PeoplePlus. You should have experience working with learners with barriers, be able to inspire individuals – especially those with limited motivation and self-esteem. You should be confident in using a diverse range of presentation, facilitation and communication skills. You will need to have the ability to handle challenging situations whilst remaining calm and in control especially in a group situation and have a good understanding of local LMI (including employer requirements/entry level requirements for qualifications/training).
