Are you a Registered Nurse who would love to become a Midwife, then we have the opportunity for you to come and join our Maternity Team
We are working in partnership with the University of Hertfordshire to support registered nurses to receive full funding (fees and salary) to train to be a midwife either through a Degree or Masters Programme.
The course for the January 2022 cohort will begin on 3rd January 2022 and end on 27th August 2023.
This shortened programme is an innovative, flexible, work-based course for qualified nurses to become midwives. It will develop your skills and knowledge so that you can become a responsive, confident midwife able to care for women and their babies. Focusing on holistic care you will gain a sound knowledge of the what is normal and healthy in childbearng women enabling you to recognise and manage problems they may have.
Main duties of the job
The programme consists of 86 weeks in total, with eight study block weeks with reading and professional study time included. During these eight study blocks you will be required to travel to Hatfield for face to face training.
During your clinical placements you will be supported through online resources, discussions, group working and reflection sessions. Each clinical week comprises of 40 hours and is a combination of practice and theory. When in placement the clinical hours will be 30 hours per week and 10 hours of theory.

If the post you have applied for requires a DBS check or you are an existing member of staff transferring to a role which requires a DBS or higher level than held you will be charged for the cost of the check. The cost of the check is currently £44 for an enhanced check and £27 for a standard check.
