1 x full-time fixed term (Maternity cover, projected end date 1st September 2022)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a proactive person to join Student Services and support students as part of our Disability and Inclusion service.

As Student Disability and Inclusion Support Coordinator you will be responsible for coordinating and delivering specialist disability support for students to help them overcome any barriers they may face as a result of their disability and ensure they are able to access all aspects of university life.

Working closely with the Disabled Student Inclusion Team Leader and a team of Student Disability and Inclusive Support Coordinators, you will have responsibility for a specific support area but will also work as part of a team to ensure the timely delivery of all support. The support programmes include, but not be limited to:

  • Coordinating and developing our Inclusive Learning volunteer programme. This will include recruitment, training and overseeing student volunteers to support new and current students who may benefit from peer support. 
  • Coordinating and developing our group workshop programme for students with Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLDs). 
  • Promoting and developing new initiatives and student support resources on appropriate communications channels, such as the website. 
  • Have an oversight of the provision of Assistive Technology that is available to students across the university and accessible remotely.
  • Meeting with students as part of the Student Hub offer to provide advice on how to access disabled student support 
  • Administering funding and activities related to Disabled Student Allowances and equivalent support for those not eligible for external funding
  • Liaising with external providers of support
  • Supporting activities which relate to the transition of first year disabled students into University
  • Other projects as required through identifying students’ needs.
  • The role will combine both project work as well as the opportunity to work with students. You will work as part of our Student Disability and Inclusion team and will need to effectively build relationships with a range of internal and external partners.

    The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:

  • Strong coordinating and administrative skills
  • Problem solving skills to introduce new ways of working
  • Experience of managing a fluctuating and often demanding workload
  • Data analysis and report writing skills are desirable
  • Please note, being able to work flexibly is a requirement as you will be part of a rota that operates from 8am–6pm across weekdays and that occasional weekend working is required for Open Days, Welcome weekend and also Enabling Service Transition Days. A standard DBS may be required for this role. 

    The salary for this post starts from £25,217. (Please note that we would normally expect to recruit at the bottom of the scale).
