We are seeking a Registered Veterinary Nurse or Y2 Student Veterinary Nurse to join the team in our wonderful Wool practice in Dorset.
Here, you will be supported by an experienced team of nursing staff including RVNs, SVNs and Client Care Assistants, so there are minimal reception duties.
Salary and hours – RVN and SVN
This role offers an RVN salary of £21,330 – £24,565 per annum, depending on experience plus £300 CPD allowance with 2-days CPD leave and in-house CPD available, RCVS and VDS fees, 5 weeks annual leave plus bank holidays.
If you are joining us as a Student Veterinary Nurse, we offer a salary between £14,725 – £20,896 per annum, depending on experience plus RCVS and VDS fees paid. 4 weeks annual leave plus bank holidays.
Progression and development are at the heart of everything we do, and we’re dedicated to supporting our Student Veterinary Nurses as they start their career in nursing. Through regular performance reviews and catch-ups, we provide you with a wealth of opportunities to develop your skills in whichever way you choose.
Hours are 40 per week (43 SVN) – 1:4 weekends and a fair share of bank holiday cover with time off in lieu and minimal on call duties over the year, approx. 3 weeks to support our dedicated night team if required, enabling the development of your ECC skills and experience.
Joining our professional, personable team in the practice, you’ll deliver exceptional care by going beyond consulting to listen and empathising, putting patients and clients first, always.
In this diverse and dynamic role, you’ll be an RCVS Registered Nurse with small animal practice experience, you put high standards of patient care first and can demonstrate how you’ve worked with empathy and demonstrated initiative when needed.
You also understand not only your role but also the capabilities of PCA’s and student nurses, and are eager to help colleagues to develop their skills and knowledge.

Skills and Experience
You must be a Veterinary Nurse who is registered with the RCVS. Alternatively, you must be an experienced Student Veterinary Nurse who is already enrolled in college
Medivet Wool is an excellently equipped practice providing a range of services including X-Rays, ECG Endoscopy, Ultrasound and MRI. The branch works closely with our 24hr Dorchester hospital which is short 15 minutes drive.
Medivet in Wool has been awarded a Silver Standard Cat-Friendly Clinic Award from the International Society of Feline Medicine (ISFM). This was in recognition of its efforts to create a cat-friendly practice and to reduce the stress suffered by feline patients during a visit.
There is a team is led by Branch Partner and Vet, Andy. The team has three highly experienced Vets, Head RVN and two Student Nurses. The successful candidate will be joining a fantastic, devoted team who are focused on delivering the highest standard of care to our patients.
