An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Postgraduate Lead for Medical and Dental Education to join the Medical and Dental Education Team within the Education Academy at Barts Health NHS Trust.

As the Postgraduate Lead for Medical and Dental Education you will work in a dynamic environment, delivering a mix of operational, strategy and quality work focused on supporting the effective delivery of postgraduate medical and dental education and training across the Trust in accordance with the NHS Education Contract with Health Education England (HEE London). This includes 1,250 placements for postgraduate medical and dental doctors in training.

The post holder is required to meet regulatory compliance and Trust standards in ensuring the effective delivery, evaluation and quality assurance of a portfolio of high quality postgraduate medical and dental education and training for our doctors and dentists in training.

The successful candidate will work closely with the site based (clinical) Directors of Medical Education (DME) in ensuring the effective delivery of postgraduate medical and dental education and training to meet the standards and requirements of the GMC, GDC and our commissioners. You will hold specific responsibility for ensuring:

  • the quality control of a range of training programmes and the development and delivery of the wider multi professional educational agenda
  • the development and implementation of robust governance policies and procedures to support the delivery of postgraduate medical and dental education
  • a high quality learning experience for our learners through the use of robust processes for learner engagement as well as utilising feedback to improve the quality of the learner experience.
  • You will require a good background in medical and dental education and training and a detailed understanding of commissioning processes and academic/training programme management. Previous experience within an acute trust, healthcare education or a regulatory body such as the GMC , Royal Colleges and/or HEE is preferred.

    You will have strong management and leadership skills and be able to work effectively in a constantly changing environment.

    In this role you will be expected to play a key role within the Medical & Dental Education senior leadership team and will deputise for the Director Medical and Dental Education as required.
