Pay & Grading Manager

Pertemps Scotland Ltd are working with our client in Edinburgh to recruit for a Pay & Grading Manager in the Public Sector on a temporary basis for 12 Months with potential extension.

Due to current circumstances this role will be based remotely.
Day rate: £250 – £300 (Inside IR35)

Main Duties:

  • Work with the Pay & Grading Lead to deliver the key aspects of the three year ‘roadmap’ using project management principles
  • Participate in, and where required lead on, consultation and negotiation with trade unions, senior managers, and job holders
  • Assist the Pay and Grading Lead to manage the process of job evaluation, acting as an initial point of contact for external job evaluation consultancy and internal stakeholders
  • Develop innovative proposals to resolve complex issues
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders, ensuring appropriate levels of agreement at each key milestone
  • Act as secretariat to the Project Board, preparing updates and assurances on progress and risks
  • Work with colleagues in Finance to closely monitor the budget position in order that appropriate reporting to Scottish Government can be achieved
  • Work closely with, and possibly line manage, the project co-ordinator to ensure that the project remains on track and any issues are escalated to the Pay & Grading Lead
  • Work closely with other HR staff – specifically the Pay & Reward Manager and Resourcing Manager, and their teams
  • The above list is not exhaustive, and the postholder will be required to complete any other duties as directed by the Pay & Grading Lead

Essential:

  • Significant experience of operating at a senior level within a pay and/or job evaluation role within HR
  • Experience of leading on delivery of significant outcomes within a pay and/or job evaluation role
  • Have experience of delivering results under time pressure and be able to demonstrate resilience
  • Ability to build effective and strong working relationships at all levels, including very senior levels and with Trade Unions
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to present views confidently and persuasively
  • Demonstrate skill in rapidly mastering complex information, interrogating the quality of that information, and making appropriate use of evidence to inform decision making/recommendations
