Job Purpose Summary

This role is one of a number of exciting opportunities NatureScot is offering in our Programme for Youth Employment. The programme sets out our ambitions for expanding our contribution to increasing youth employment in the rural skills sector and to develop nature based skills for the future.

This Modern Apprenticeship offers an excellent opportunity to work with NatureScot whilst learning on the job. It is a development role aimed at those in the early/next stages of their career in Data Analytics. You will gain a variety of skills and on the job experience within the role and specific team.

Each apprentice will have a learning plan agreed with their line manager and assessor. They are required to complete a series of mandatory and optional modules. Each module is evidence based and apprentices need to demonstrate they have sufficient on the ground experience and associated learning to complete each module

This apprenticeship will aim to look at the data NatureScot hold on Scotland’s protected areas. Using established business intelligence tools you will look at how we could improve upon and make better use of this data for both internal and external reporting purposes. This will involve speaking to a wide range of internal staff and external users about how they collect or use data on protected areas to shape how NatureScot supplies the data.

Some of these posts may require in time to be office based within one of the NatureScot offices. NatureScot supports home and remote working and it is likely that new starts will be working from home at the beginning of their contracts, thereafter there is the potential to be based in a relevant office.

Nature is vital to all of us in Scotland. The more diverse NatureScot is, the better we will be in connecting everyone with nature. We particularly encourage applications from people from Minority Ethnic (ME) backgrounds and people with a disability
