International Student Support Officer

Student Operations and Support

We have a fantastic opportunity to join our International Student Support team playing a vital part in the support and retention of our international students at the University.

This student facing role has specific responsibility for organising and delivering student engagement activities that enhance the student experience and create a sense of belonging for international students, as well as supporting them with elements of pastoral support, information and advice.

To be successful in this rewarding role you should ideally have experience of coordinating events and activities, as you’ll be project managing activities such as the international students’ orientation programme, and implementing innovative ideas around the development and delivery of an ongoing programme of social and cultural events. As a key point of contact for our international students, you will also co-ordinate an ongoing programme of information and induction activities for new international students and provide elements of pastoral support. The ideal candidate for this post will have:

  • Experience of the complexities of working with international students, or a similar client group, preferably in an education setting
  • Experience of delivering projects that support and promote wellbeing
  • Good verbal and written communications skills in order to engage with people who do not have English as a first language
  • A practical approach to problem-solving and to the provision of advice, demonstrating the ability to use initiative.
  • If you think this sounds like you, then this is your ideal role and we would love to hear from you.

As this post forms a job share position, the successful candidates will need to co-ordinate their working days to ensure core working hours are covered, preferably we would like the working days to cover some hours on a Tuesday to allow an overlap with your job share partner, and 2 other days towards the latter part of the week. This post is a maternity cover position until January 2022.
