What you’ll be doing

Leading the Student Experience team, you will be one of the leaders within the Product Experience department.

You will drive forward our company vision through the strategic development of student experience initiatives which will engage more students and nurture strong relationships with our online student community

In conjunction with the Head of Marketing, you will shape and own department KPIs for student engagement and user diversity.

Working in close collaboration with the Head of Product you will work to improve the quality of student experience in our online community, exploring and prioritising developments that will have a positive impact on the user experience

You will be part of our management group working cross-functionally with other department leads to effectively prioritise our quarterly commitments, driving the business forwards.

In this role you’ll manage a team of six who sit under the core pillars of:

  • Community engagement – supporting students onsite through the delivery of student lifecycle campaigns; providing tools, expert knowledge and facilitating constructive peer to peer conversations and connections
  • Community support – ensuring our onsite community is effectively nurtured and protected through our volunteer programme, safeguarding protocols and moderation procedures
  • Student voice and diversity – nurturing an inclusive environment within the TSR onsite community so students from all backgrounds feel welcome and supported; and amplifying authentic and representative student voices to key stakeholders offsite
  • You’ll take your previous experience and deep understanding of youth
    engagement to develop strategies that will see us drive forward user growth, a deeper level of activity from a diverse mix of engaged users, and the development of regular, active users and community advocates

    You will provide the direction required to the team to support our onsite community of students to learn, share, engage and connect with each other, maximising the value of authentic peer-to-peer engagement.

    You will regularly report on your objectives, and impact against engagement and diversity KPIs, responding accordingly with an agile approach that is based around test and learn.

    You will support your team to build critical external relationships and partnerships to ensure that TSR remains a trusted source for authentic content, and help build our brand awareness with a wider set of external stakeholders that will help take the benefits of TSR to all students.

    What does success look like?

    Within the first 6 months you will:

  • Have established trust and mutual respect with your team
  • Have worked with a cross-functional team to deliver critical activity for Q3 and prioritise and deliver critical activity for Q4
  • Have developed and optimized engagement and user diversity targets and KPIs and will have aligned the team to these goals
  • Be a knowledgeable advocate for effective safeguarding onsite, championing continuous improvement in this area
  • Supported the team in the roll out of a refreshed volunteer programme
  • Supported the team in the development of new Student Voice processes, partnerships and Diversity priorities
  • Supported the team in developing community engagement campaigns for key audiences

  • Has experience and passion for growing and nurturing youth communities and audiences on or offline
  • Has the leadership skills required to define and manage a set of KPIs, and ensure a team are empowered and motivated to deliver success
  • Is scientifically creative – this role is more than having great ideas, you can structure and test innovative plans, assess outcomes, and prioritise when to push forward, optimise or stop
  • Is collaborative by default – you’ll enjoy working in collaboration with a wide range of colleagues from across the business to bring your plans to life
  • Is committed to inspiring and empowering employees and has proven experience of managing a team
  • Can demonstrate change management skills and has experience of developing and embedding new processes and ways of working
  • Has commercial acumen and can demonstrate ability to deliver against targets
  • Has an entrepreneurial mindset and is motivated to get the job done
  • Can be an internal ambassador for our students, ensuring they stay central to business decision making
  • Advantageous but not essential:

  • Experience with youth engagement for brands
  • SaaS experience
  • Knowledge or experience in mental health training and/or safeguarding

  • Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this role will be fully-remote to begin, with a phased return to our offices by Brighton station. Moving forward, the role includes the possibility / option of remote working on either a temporary, permanent or mixed basis.
