Graduate Teaching Assistant – Secondary School – Newport 

Are you an aspiring secondary school teacher, looking to gain invaluable school based experience through working as a graduate teaching assistant?

Teaching Personnel are recruiting for 3 Graduate Teaching Assistants to join a large secondary school in Newport.

The Teaching Assistant positions will be for the rest of the academic year.  There will be a review in July 2022 and if successful you will have an opportunity to join the school on a permanent contract.

£300 – £350 weekly pay

The Graduate Teaching Assistant Role

The Graduate Teaching Assistant role is perfect for aspiring teachers to gain school based experience.  As a Graduate Teaching Assistant you will be given the opportunity to grow and develop throughout the year and will find out exactly what it’s like to work in a Secondary school. 

As a Teaching Assistant you will be working within a team to support students with Additional Learning Needs.  The students you will be supporting will have a wide range of abilities and so you will offer support on a small groups and 1:1 basis. 

Each day will be different and by the end of the academic year you will be in a great position to commence your teacher training.


  • Graduate role – degree of any specialism!
  • Ability to be resilient and use initiative
  • Must have a clear commitment to education and teaching
  • Empathy and able to work with all staff members
  • Some experience working with young people is extremely advantageous

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
