A school in Scarborough is looking to appoint a number of Teaching Assistants & Cover Supervisors to join the team for the new academic year in October. This will be as part of Teaching Personnel’s ‘Future Teachers Programme’ which supports graduates who are looking to obtain school based experience before teacher training in September 2022.

In order to be considered for the programme, the following is required:

  • A degree within your subject specialism.
  • Prior school/education based experience, not essential but some experience working with children is a must. 
  • Ambitions of becoming a teacher in the future.

Highlights of the programme include:

  • Working as a Teaching Assistant – providing in class supporting, supporting students across a range of abilities and ages.
  • Working as a Cover Supervisor – covering lessons for absent staff, developing invaluable skills in relation to general classroom management.
  • Providing support across a variety of subjects, shadowing members of the teaching team.
  • Working within the SEN department – working with students with specific SEN/SEMH needs as well as those who display challenging behaviour.
  • Implementing school policy within the classroom, as well as around the school site.
  • Supporting students on an individual basis, helping with numeracy and literacy as well as specific intervention sessions within your subject specialism.

The programme was created in order to address the national shortages of Teachers, particularly within the core subjects.

The school has supported a significant amount of graduates previously and is able to offer the applicant a full training package in order to ensure that they feel sufficiently supported.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
