Leonardo’s Graduate Development Programme offers you a permanent position to develop your knowledge and skills in our innovative and practical environment. In addition to working with our highly skilled engineers and business professionals, you will complete a 2 year formal training programme to develop the skills you require to be a leading technical or business professional of the future.

On our programme you will engage with challenging and exciting project work, and deliver innovative business or technical solutions as part of a team of subject matter experts. Throughout the programme you will receive coaching and support from your team to achieve your objectives as well as your personal development goals. 

You will gain a wide array of experience in your day to day role, however as part of the programme you will also complete a number of development modules and activities over a two year period. These modules and activities are designed to provide you with the knowledge and skills required to realise your full potential. What you will do

How this role fits in

We are looking for a Graduate Systems Engineer to join the Land, Logistics and Training Services sector. The role will report to and support the LLTS Solutions Architect working as part of a team on bids & proposals helping to design solutions for Training Services. This will include researching current & emerging technologies to influence the direction of our product & solutions development.

Role description

The successful candidate will also be supporting the delivery of those programmes. Working as part of the engineering team, they will help a project as it moves through the detailed design, implementation & support life cycle phases to ensure customer requirements and needs are met.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate strong skills in working with others, building good relationships and organisational skills.

Key Responsibility Areas

  • Support the Solutions Architect is developing solutions and accompanying documentation as part of bid preparation life cycle
  • Support the Solutions Architect by keeping up to date with current computing network architectures and virtualisation platforms
  • Researching current & emerging technologies that could support training systems, such as Technology Enhanced Learning applications and/or VR and AR
  • Work in a collaborative manner with engineering teams to ensure project tasks are understood and progressed
  • As part of the engineering team ensure that tasks are delivered to the cost, schedule and quality that the customer and the Engineering Management team are expecting
  • Maintain metrics for assigned tasks for review with the Engineering Management team

  • What we are looking for

    Mandatory

    Please note that in order to apply for this opportunity you must be eligible for UK Security Clearance. Normally this is to the level of Security Check (typically known as “SC”) for our business.

    Qualifications

    All of our roles require (a) a minimum of an upper Second class Bachelors/Integrated Masters degree, or (b) a higher degree, such as a MSc or PhD. In all cases the subject should be engineering, mathematics, physics or another relevant STEM discipline.

    Highly desirable

  • Knowledge of Virtualisation Platforms, storage technologies, enterprise server platforms, and networking
  • Knowledge and some experience in software languages and application development
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (written and verbal).
  • Demonstrable analytical and technical problem-solving skills.
  • A positive and proactive mindset.
