The Role

What you’ll be doing:

Working closely with the Head of Nutrition & Sustainability, your role will be to support the successful execution of the Compass Climate Promise, Roadmap to Net Zero and Sustainability Framework, across all sub-sectors of our education sector. You will be responsible for working alongside the central sustainability team to implement, evaluate and report on our progress against these commitments.

You will work with individual Business Directors across sub sectors to ensure individual approaches are fit for purpose and market leading. Ensuring that we engage with key stakeholders and can translate complex information into simple messages for our different audiences.

Key Responsibilities   

  • Visit sites on a weekly basis
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders
  • Manage, monitor and review our progress and performance against strategy commitments
  • Translating complex science and information into simple facts and figures
  • Work alongside operators and marketing teams to increase engagement
  • Continuous learning in a rapidly changing landscape with the ability to adapt to new priorities as required
  • Deliver training and initiatives to catering teams
  • Ensure compliance to our strategy and commitments in all sites
  • Build relationships with existing contracts/clients and support retention presentations
  • Working in partnership with other members of the nutrition team to share knowledge
  • Ideal Candidate

    · Recent graduate of a degree related to the Environment & Sustainability

    · Knowledge and passion for sustainability including subject matter expertise

    · Confident in communicating to large groups of people and controlling challenging meetings/conversations 

    · Work experience in the foodservice industry would be welcomed 

    · Must be willing to travel and stay away from home occasionally

    · Excellent verbal and written communication skills 

    · Demonstrates Compass values and recognition principles 

    · Ability to quickly gain credibility with key stakeholder groups 

    · Professional, organised, presentable, efficient and self-motivated 

    · A passion for keeping up to date with research and national health events 

    · Excellent presentation skills 

    · Excellent IT skills 

    – Ability to manage a busy diary independently
