You will join our Building Structures team
As our new Graduate, you will be part of a talented, fun, and diverse team in Manchester working on a range of projects in a variety of sectors including commercial offices, education, healthcare, heritage, industrial and residential. We actively encourage design flair and innovative solutions. Our 100-strong multi-disciplinary office is located on Parsonage Gardens in Manchester with easy access to the city centre and its cafes, restaurants, and shops. We have ample cycle storage & shower facilities to aid your commute or freshen up after a lunchtime run around the city. Working with the leading architects we are recognised for our bold innovative approach, that is underpinned by our Scandinavian design heritage and foundation ownership.
Previous education will be an important foundation, but your ability to learn new engineering concepts and pick up new technology quickly and effectively will define your success. If you enjoy challenging the status quo and finding efficient and novel ways to tackle unfamiliar engineering problems, then you will thrive here. Your key tasks and responsibilities will be:
Contribute to the overall design and delivery of buildings, including the component parts of the structure
Join Ramboll’s ICE or IStructE training scheme and progress your professional development with support from your mentor
Identify opportunities for digital automation and/or optimisation of building systems, interfaces and /or their components parts
Develop digital tools and approaches to leverage these opportunities
Translate complex engineering concepts and solutions into presentations, reports, sketches, drawings, and infographics that communicate their essence and demonstrate their value to our clients and key stakeholders
Identify potential health & safety, design, sustainability, and commercial risks on our projects and contribute towards mitigating them
Monitor the implementation of design throughout the entire project lifecycle, from initial concepts to visits on site
Proactively pursue continuous professional development including working towards chartership with a recognised institution

A BEng, MEng or MSc level degree in a relevant engineering
Interest/experience in the design of the primary construction materials (steel, concrete and/or timber)
Demonstrable aptitude to learn computer programming languages and complex data manipulation and processing (e.g. Dynamo, Grasshopper, Python, C++, C#, PowerBI, SQL, .net, etc.)
Ability to summarise and present complex engineering concepts via different channels (e.g. report writing, Power Point, hand sketching)
An understanding of Digital Automation and Optimisation
