Graduate Risk and Reliability Consultant

London / Warrington

Staff Role

This is a new role working within the Assystem group Risk, Safety and Human Factors consultancy – CRA

CRA is one of the UK’s largest integrated Risk, Safety and Human Factors consultancies, with a reputation for delivering expert assurance support to clients in the in UK nuclear and other high hazards industries, as well as overseas. We have a long history of helping current nuclear operations and new build projects manage their safety and risk in the civil and defence nuclear sectors.

The Role:

We are seeking highly motivated graduates to work as part of project teams led by recognised experts in the field of safety and risk management consultancy to a variety of clients in the high hazard industries, particularly Nuclear. 

Typical activities of the role will include:

  • Probabilistic Safety Assessment (PSA) and System modelling and analysis using Fault Tree/Event Tree techniques and employing models using state-of-art risk assessment software tools, e.g. RiskSpectrum or Isograph.
  • Design and assessment of new plant and modifications to existing plant.
  • Application of Systems Engineering tools and techniques in order to improve operational management processes.
  • Analysis, Optimisation and Re-engineering of operational processes.
  • Integration with specialists in the areas of Ergonomics, Human Factor and Man-Machine Interface Analysis leading to Human Error Probability Assessment, Analysis and Reduction.
  • Support to project planning and project management activities.

    Profile

    Your background:

    The role is based at CRA offices in either London or Warrington, but you will be visiting site visits depending on the needs of each project so you should hold a current full driving licence and be eligible to apply for any security clearances deemed necessary by CRA clients.

    Supervision: 

    You will be provided with mentoring from more senior colleagues as required to fulfil your technical roles and support your personal development.

    Communication: 

    You’ll need excellent communication skills, both written and oral plus the ability to provide clear, concise and well-reasoned analyses and reports, and present these findings confidently at meetings (with senior support as needed). 

    Qualities:

    You’ll be an adaptable self-starter with good interpersonal skills with the ability to learn rapidly. Also, a good team-player with the confidence and ability to question traditional received wisdoms, think laterally and present alternatives.

    Essential Experience & Qualifications

    You don’t need to have previous consultancy experience but you will be educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant discipline e.g. Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, Physics or Mathematics.

    Ideally you’ll be highly competent (ideally fluent) in French (i.e. CEFRL Level B1 or higher)
