Our Opportunity

Pick Everard is expanding its Highways and Transport offering, and as a result we have an exciting opportunity available for a Graduate Civil Engineer to work in our Highways and Transport Team in Leicester. This opportunity is open to those who have recently graduated with either:

  • a BEng degree in Civil Engineering and who can demonstrate a specific interest in pursuing a career in Transport Planning and Engineering.
  • OR

  • a Masters degree specifically relating to Transport Planning/Engineering.
  • You will work in our team of Transportation Engineers on a wide variety of projects analysing and evaluating the expected transport impacts of proposed developments. Other duties include:

  • Preparing and undertaking site visits and surveys
  • Working to find solutions to challenging problems
  • Inputting into the design of those solutions
  • Junction modelling analysis using industry standard modelling software (ARCADY, PICADY and LinSig) and AutoCAD drawing (full training will be given as necessary)
  • Drawing together the findings and conclusions of all assessment work into a technical report
  • Support will also be provided in pursuing ICE or CIHT professional qualifications. Additionally, if you do not have a relevant Masters degree, we will discuss with you the opportunity for sponsorship to undertake this study on a part-time basis whilst working.

    About You

    The successful Graduate Civil Engineer will have a specific interest in Transport Planning and Engineering. Further requirements include:

  • Ability to demonstrate logical and analytical calculation and evaluation processes to determine appropriate methodologies and to obtain relevant data*
  • Very competent in the use of Microsoft Excel
  • Capable of delivering well-presented written work* and competence in the use of Microsoft Word for preparing both written and diagrammatic report elements
  • Team player and self-motivated
  • Ability to work to deadlines and manage time with multiple tasks
  • *These requirements will be the subject of testing at interview.
