Civil Graduate Trainee / Junior Engineer

This is a new role working within the Assystem group Risk, Safety and Human Factors consultancy – CRA

Working with CRA, you will be involved in developing Nuclear Safety Cases to support nuclear safety critical infrastructure, in a multidiscipline environment. The team includes a wealth of experience, including Senior Principal Civil Engineers who have expertise in the design and substantiation of nuclear safety related structures and equipment. Sharing of knowledge and learning of new skills is actively encouraged.

The Role:

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Taking a support role in the development of nuclear safety cases including periodic reviews of safety
  • Be part of a team which undertakes inspection of structures, systems and components to determine continued operability
  •  Technical quality and excellence of your work
  • Communication with clients and other team members, participating in Design Reviews, HAZOPs and stakeholders as necessary
  • Assist with project planning and delivery
  • Contributing to the development of designs for nuclear facilities
  • Adherence and contribution to business and quality management systems
  • Operational and design safety, and developing good safety culture

    Profile

    Your background:

  • You’ll need a willingness to develop knowledge of safety case procedures and systems at UK nuclear licensed and / or Authorised sites
  • An understanding of, or willingness to learn the principles of nuclear safety as applied on both civilian and military applications
  • A working knowledge of, or willingness to learn about key legislation and regulatory requirements relating to nuclear licensed sites
  • A Degree qualified in Civil and / or structural engineering
  • Good verbal and written communication, and report writing skill
  • Ability to produce documentation on time and to required quality
  • Proven ability to work as part of a team, liaising directly with clients and other design team members as directed
  • Ideally you’ll have experience of working on a nuclear licensed site in some capacity and to be familiar with the safety and quality standards that are expected. Also Membership (at any level) of Institute of Civil Engineers would be a plus

    Security clearance:

    Due to the nature of work to be undertaken applicants will be required to meet certain residency criteria in order to attain a minimum level of UK security clearance if not already security cleared to a minimum SC level.
