Graduate Tax Trainee – £25k – Uckfield (East Sussex)

Why Tax?

Every area of your day-to-day life is impacted by tax, whether it be the food you eat for dinner, the electricity you use to heat your home, or the road that you travel to university on. Many of the things we take for granted including hospitals, schools and the police forces are all paid for by taxation. Tax professionals work with private individuals, businesses and charities to pay the right amount of tax to stay compliant.

Why this Tax Trainee role?

This accounting firm work with private individuals across the UK and internationally, provide a structured and nurturing place to work, long-term opportunities for progression, and offer support to study for further professional qualifications in tax, such as the ATT and CTA qualifications. They are currently looking for a graduate to join them in a permanent position as a Tax Trainee.

What could you be doing?

  • Preparing Self-Assessment tax returns and capital gains tax calculations
  • Checking HMRC tax calculations
  • Preparing annual checklists and client letters
  • Updating financial records and relevant databases
  • Using Excel to prepare financial information
  • Researching tax legislation

    • Corresponding with clients and HMRC

    What do you need?

  • A degree in a relevant subject such as Business, Accounting, Finance, Maths, Economics or related
  • A desire to forge a career within tax and to complete tax qualifications
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Any relevant experience would be a bonus
  • Based in East Sussex or Kent within a reasonable commute to Uckfield or happy to relocate to the area
