One year sponsorship for training to become a Specialist Community PublicHealth Nurse (School Nurse)This is a one year, full time course run in conjunction with Surrey University.50% of time is in practice and 50% at the University(timetabled annual leave) and commit to 52 weeks of the year. Main duties of the job
Anopportunity to shape the future of health care and impact on the lives ofchildren, young people and families. Learning all skills needed to be acompetent school nurse. Attending University to gain theoretical knowledge andapplying it in practice under supervision on practice days. Growing inconfidence taking on more independently as the course progresses.

Maintain confidentiality at all times, followingorganisational sickness and absence policy.
Undertake duties allocated by practiceassessor/supervisor, being flexible as needed and writing records withinexpectations.
Work collaboratively with the skill mixed schoolnursing team & wider multidisciplinary team ensuring equity of serviceprovision, promoting good practice and the sharing of resources.
Participate in the delivery of the Healthy ChildProgramme 5-19.
Participate to identify/ support children andfamilies who have unmet health needs, providing support and targeted interventionsand where necessary referring to specialist services.
Take appropriate action in cases of suspected oractual child abuse, working within Surrey safeguarding childrens code ofpractice and procedures, attending child protection conferences/core groups asrequired with practice teacher or agreed 0-19 health care professionalParticipate in clinical audit and evaluation of service Work in accordance withthe needs of the service, undertake other duties as required within currentskill set.

Job responsibilities
To take responsibility for their adult learning and to inform theirPractice Teacher and University contact should there be any exceptionalcircumstances preventing the completion of any aspects of the course.
Maintain confidentiality, it is stressed that much of theinformation which is handled by the student nurses is of a highly confidentialnature and should not be divulged to another party nor should it be discussedwith colleagues unless it is essential to do so.

Undertake duties as allocated by practice teacher
Work collaboratively with the skill mixed health visiting teamto ensure equity of service provision, promoting good practice and the sharingof resources.
Participate in supporting good working relationships with FamilyCentres, midwifery, GP practices and the wider multi-disciplinary team.
Where appropriate work with Children and Family Health Surrey(CFHS) Nurse prescribing lead to prescribe in line with local and nationalpolicy guidelines.
Make Every Contact Count with children, and their families in avariety of community settings schools, home, health centers.
